Other topics/ questions raised
- Democracy in the gallery; does this exist? Is this something we should be more concerned about establishing/ demolishing?
- What is an exhibition? What does ‘exhibition’ mean to our members? How formal/ informal should an exhibition be? Is an exhibition classified by its duration?
- Should there be formal constraints put in place for making work; subject matter, site specificity, etc. aside from the constraints of time, the exhibition space, the chosen medium/ format of the work.

TURNER HOUSE TALK, TONIGHT!

Ffotogallery are proud to present a gallery talk by Michael Carklin, Head of Academic Programmes at the Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Industries, at the University of Glamorgan, tonight at Turner House from 6.30PM.

Having grown up in Johannesburg, Michael studied and lectured in Grahamstown, South Africa, before moving to the UK. Specialising in African visual art and literature, he will be reflecting on our current exhibition, Life Less Ordinary : Performance & Display in South African Art.

This event is free and all are welcome.
Refreshments will also be provided.

Book Arts Fayre S T R E E T T E A M

Ffotogallery's autumnal Book Arts Fayre is a matter of months away, and Ffotogallery are looking to recruit a small, enthusiastic team of volunteers to work with the Gallery Officers to plan and develop Ffotogallery’s second Book Arts Fayre of 2010, taking place on 9th October.

A knowledge of online social networking tools, a positive attitude to promotion and good PR skills are desirable, alongside a passion for Book Arts, and you will gain invaluable experience in events management and marketing as Project Officers and BAF mascots!

Incandescent presents, Wales Book of the Year 2010 longlist poet

Philip Gross : 'I Spy Pinhole Eye'
Poetry & Photography Collaboration

Philip Gross, poet and professor of creative writing at the University of Glamorgan, will be reading from his latest poetry and photography collaboration, I Spy Pinhole Eye, with photographer Simon Denison.

Gross, was named winner of the 2009 TS Eliot prize for his detailed and lyrical meditations on the ever-changing waters of the Severn estuary, The Water Table.

Come and discuss the collaborative process with local, TS Eliot Prize winner!

COMPLETING FORA ONE
Access has been arranged to print off the final ‘zine booklets.
Once this has been done, and the budget has been arranged/ analysed, a meeting can be held to stick and stuff the final copies.
Potential exhibition of Fora One has been proposed, further details to be confirmed on completion.

FORA TWO
An exhibition of new F O R U M works to be held at Helen’s house before the end of September/ summer.
All existing and new FORUM members to contribute, proposals to be discussed at the next F O R U M meet.

HAS F O R U M CLOSED ITSELF OFF?
Concern has been raised as to whether F O R U M has become closed to new members following the establishment of a group of core members.

Temporary Facilitator, Clore Discovery Centre
Glanely Gallery, National Museum Cardiff
Contract up to January 2011
Salary: £20,978 - £23,916 per annum (pro rata)

The Clore Discovery Centre (located in the Glanely Gallery) provides an informal area where the general public and schools can access and handle objects from the collections guided by expert staff.

They are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and motivated facilitator with excellent communication skills to join the team, on a fixed term basis.

'Exploring Nature' Facilitator
St Fagans: National History Museum
Contract: 16 months, 3 days per week

St Fagans are looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent communication skills to create, develop and deliver a programme of interpretative activities for existing and new visitors.

This exciting project is funded by BIFFA and Legal & General, as a means of interpreting the rich and varied biodiversity of St Fagans.
