The next FORUM meeting will be on the 28th of January 2010 from 6.30pm at TurnerHouse gallery, Plymouth Rd, Penarth.
We will be discussing the FORUM print project and will have a selection of treats to fend off the new year blues!
Thanks to everyone who attended the last FORUM of 2009, particularly those that presented their work. It was a very interesting evening of debate and discussion.

Anna Fox : Artist Talk
Thursday 8th October : Turner House : 6.30pm
Cockroach Diary and Other Stories by Anna Fox is currently open at Ffotogallery and we are pleased to announce that Anna will be joining us to give a talk about her works and this exhibition, which celebrates 25 years of her photography. The talk will be followed by October’s artist FORUM.

Introduction to the Artist:
Anna Fox first gained attention for Work Stations: Office Life in London (1988), a study of office culture in Thatcher's Britain, originally commissioned by Camerawork and The Museum of London. She is best known for Zwarte Piet (1993-8), a series of twenty portraits taken over a five-year period that explore Dutch 'black-face' folk traditions associated with Christmas. Other projects have included The Village (1992), a multi-media collaboration with the writer Val Williams, examining the experiences of rural women, and Friendly Fire, which records the leisure activity of paint-balling in the manner of war reportage. More recent publications include Cockroach Diary and My Mother's Cupboards and My Father's Words (2000), which deal with autobiographical narratives and were designed as miniature, limited edition books. She is Head of the BA in Photography at the University College of the Creative Arts, Farnham. Fox’s work is represented in a number of major collections.

The Open Society Institute is now excepting submissions for the 17th
edition of the Moving Walls group exhibition. Moving Walls features
work that deals with the in-depth and nuanced explorations of human
rights and social issues through the art of photography. Both emerging
and veteran photographers may submit finished projects or work that

Saturday 11th July / 2pm – 7pm / Ffotogallery, Penarth The Kitsch Stitch Club will be taking over Ffotogallery@Turnerhouse and are here to help you make and customise your own accessories and clothing!
Visitors will have the chance to kitsch up garments, bags and brooches with the help of our team of 'Stitchers' - fashion students, graduates and a few extra special industry professionals. So you don't have to be a pro to get involved!
＊ Free needles and thread! There will also be fabrics, felts and D-I-Y bundles available for small donations.
＊ Sale displays and stalls from local independent shops and designers, already confirmed are Forever Vintage, Penarth and Damn Fine Art, Bristol.

Photomarathon Cardiff 2009. 20th June 2009.
Saturday 20th June 2009 sees Photomarathon return to Cardiff. Now in it's third year, Photomarathon is a unique event open to anyone with a 35mm camera.
The day starts at 10am, when you collect your film from the base at Wales Millennium Centre. Each competitor then has 12 hours to take pictures on 12 different pre-decided topics before returning their film back to base by 10pm.

: Seen But Not Heard is an exhibition showcasing work exploring the representation of children and young people. The photographers exhibited are Julia Fullerton-Batten, Michelle Sank, Jan von Holleben, Vee Spears, Simon Wheatley, Wiebke Leister, Clare Richardson, Ali Richards and Edmund Clark. Seen But Not Heard is open at The Courtyard Centre for the Arts, Edgar Street.

Sarah Pickering Talk, Saturday 23rd May!
The talk will commence from 2.00 pm, at the lovely Turner House Gallery in Penarth.
Sarah Pickering is a London based, British photographer who graduated from the Royal College of Art with a MA in Photography in 2005. She has been the recipient of several awards including the Photographers Gallery Graduate Award and a Jerwood Photography Award in 2005. Work from the Incident series is about to be shown at the Victoria and Albert Museum as part of an exhibition of their recent acquisitions. Aperture and the Museum of Contemporary Photography Chicago will co-publish a substantial monograph of her work later this year.
